Mama Nems

So EmJo and I ventured to Mama Nem's the other day, it was my second time going and her first. If you like soul/comfort food this is the place for you. They bring you out a basket of cornbread and a basket of fruit as an app. I ordered the meatload, mashed potatoes, fried okra and green beans. The meatloaf was so tender and perfect. The mashed potatoes were a perfect mix of chunky and creamy. The okra was pretty standard, as were the green beans. Emjo ordered bbq chicken with mac n cheese and I am not sure what else because I was so absorbed in my plate of food.

Now on another note, our service was so terrible that I unsure if I will ever dine in again. They took forever to seat us, to take our order, and to bring us our drinks. Our check was never brought to us and our waitress disappeared so we had to go up to pay. I don't want to say it was because we were two white girls in an all black restaurant, but I definitely felt like it was.

Either way the food is too good to pass up and I will probably just order take out from now on.

Okay so I have to do my own post on the flying biscuit as well.... and let me say this place is like the holy grail of breakfast foods. I have eaten at the original one in Atlanta a few times and everything was amazing. This was our first time ordering dinner, and I will say that it did not disappoint. I ordered creamed chicken served over biscuits. I started with a cup of their FAMOUS grits, the best grits in the entire world. Anyway the creamed chicken was a take on chicken and dumplings, it was so tasty but I was full in like 5 bites since it was so heavy. I took a lot with me but unfortunately I stepped on the box while trying to get into the car.

either way the trip was a success and if you ever get the chance to eat at flying biscuit....DO IT!

Country Fried

Took a trip up to Gainesville to see Midtown Dickens, eat, and drink. (This are a few of my favorite things) The entire ride up we were starving so I was speeding and got pulled over, but not ticketed thank god.
We finally make it to Flying Biscuit and ready to tear shit up. I don't think they knew how anticipated this meal was, seemed like the staff was a little to concerned with christmas decorations than taking this fatty's order.

Eventually I deicide to get the country fried chicken with mac n chz and green beans.
The chicken was 'breaded'-herb friend which I liked better because, it seems to be a bit healthier.
Personally I like to kill two birds with one stone by getting a lil chicken and mac through the fork.
And of course I can't really enjoy all of this country goodness without my good friend Tabasco.
This meal alone was totally worth the almost ticket/2 hour drive.

To top it off we had a few beers around a small bon fire. While talking shit about life and tattoos Tay roasted some marshmallows. We also listened to some band called; Dark, Dark, Dark...I really liked it.

The ride home we stopped outside of Inverness at the BP, where we were greeted by a overly friendly cashier and some drunks looking for some cigs. I also appreciated the kitten moo-moo's in the window. Our bladders were about to burst as we rush toward the bathroom, and conveniently enough only the men's room was open. As I opened the door some hick comes storming out and all that I could think to say is that "It's ok."

It was a really good night, the weather was perfect, our bellies were full, and had some uncomfortable laughs.
